3.4. Emphatic -'ia

The emphatic affix -'ia can be inserted before the case ending of a noun or the verb ending of a verb to lend extra emphasis.

dahshti!

dahsht-i
trouble-pred
ˈdɑxʃt

It's trouble.

dahshtiani!

dahsht-'ia-i!
trouble-emph-pred
dɑxʃˈtianɪ

It's trouble indeed!

The initial /ʔ/ is elided unless immediately preceded by a vowel:

shogau'iani

shog-au-'ia-ni
tool-1sg.p-emph-become.v
